Horizon Apps Standard and Advanced Term cannot renew on the August 2026 pricebook

What changed

Omnissa has published KB 6001279, “Omnissa Horizon portfolio simplification – starting August 2026”. From the August 2026 pricebooks, several editions reach end of sale, meaning they are available for neither new purchases nor renewals.

The editions named in the article include:

• Horizon Apps Standard Subscription (SaaS)
• Horizon Apps Standard Term
• Horizon Advanced Term
• Horizon for Linux Term
• 1-year SNS for Dynamic Environment Manager, ThinApp and App Volumes

The FAQ is explicit about timing. End of sale occurs in August 2026, “at which time the editions above will become unavailable to purchase or renew”.

The renewal path is a step up

Omnissa’s recommended replacements retain your current functionality by moving you to a larger edition:

• Horizon Apps Standard Term → Horizon Apps Advanced Term
• Horizon Apps Standard Subscription → Horizon Apps Universal Subscription
• Horizon Advanced Term → Horizon Enterprise Term
• Horizon for Linux Term → Horizon Enterprise Term

These are Omnissa’s own mappings, and the article notes that editions can be mixed and that your Omnissa representative can advise on the best fit for your use cases. What the mapping does not address is whether these users require Horizon at all.

Who feels this first

This change does not land hardest on organisations running large persistent desktop estates. It lands on the teams who bought Horizon Apps, or used a Term edition primarily as an application farm, so that staff could run SAP GUI, ERP, warehouse, manufacturing or finance software.

Those users never required a virtual desktop; they required a published Windows application that opened reliably. For them, the Horizon Client, Connection Server and image pipeline exist to serve a single purpose, and a higher edition purchases desktop capability they were never going to use.

Questions to answer before you renew

• Which of your editions appear in KB 6001279, and when your renewal date falls.
• How many of those users open a published application rather than a full desktop.
• What the recommended replacement edition adds, and whether you need it.

Evaluate browser delivery first
