What changed

Omnissa has published KB 6001279, “Omnissa Horizon portfolio simplification – starting August 2026”. From the August 2026 pricebooks, several editions go end of sale — no new purchases, and no renewals.

The editions named in the article include:

The FAQ is blunt about timing. End of sale happens in August 2026, “at which time the editions above will become unavailable to purchase or renew”.

The renewal path is a step up

Omnissa’s recommended replacements keep your current functionality by moving you to a larger edition:

Those are Omnissa’s own mappings. The article also notes that you can mix editions and should talk to your representative about the best fit for your use cases. What the mapping does not ask is whether these users need Horizon at all.

Who feels this first

Not the teams running large persistent desktop estates. It lands hardest on teams who bought Horizon Apps — or used a Term edition mainly as an application farm — so people could run SAP GUI, ERP, warehouse, manufacturing or finance software.

Those users never asked for a virtual desktop. They needed a published Windows application that opened reliably. For them, the Horizon Client, Connection Server and image pipeline exist to do one job, and a higher edition buys desktop capability they were never going to use.

Evaluate browser delivery first

WebStream ACP targets the Horizon deployments that exist only to deliver Windows applications. Users sign in through a standard HTML5 browser, so there is no Horizon Client to install or keep in version lockstep, and file, clipboard and print activity stays under policy with a full audit trail.

Keep Horizon for the people who genuinely need a full virtual desktop. Move the SAP, ERP and finance set to governed browser delivery, and the application farm stops driving the next edition. Paid tiers bill SessionHours of active use, and you can prove the experience on your own hosts through AWS Marketplace or the MSI.
