Virtual Desktop

A Virtual Desktop workspace delivers a full Windows desktop in the browser. Use it when users need general desktop access rather than a fixed set of applications.

Create a Virtual Desktop

1. Fill in the create form

  1. Open Workspaces and click Add Workspace.
  2. Name the workspace and set Type to Virtual Desktop.
  3. Policy Set: choose a policy carefully — a desktop exposes more surface than a single app, so restrict file-system trust, clipboard, and printing to what the role requires. Resolution and resource limits also come from the policy's session and resource settings.
  4. Auto Launch App (optional): pick an application to open automatically on connect. Selecting one here also adds that app to the workspace — the one case where an app is added for you.
  5. Turn ON Published (visible to users) (off by default), then click Create.

2. Grant access (Access Rights tab)

  1. On the workspace detail page, open the Access Rights tab and click Grant Access.
  2. Select a group and click Grant Access. Members of that group then see the desktop at login.
Access is still required

Choosing an Auto Launch App only adds the app — it does not grant access. A Virtual Desktop still needs a group granted on the Access Rights tab and must be Published before any user can see it.

Warning

A full desktop gives users more ways to reach files and tools than an App Collection. Pair Virtual Desktops with a stricter trust level and consider enabling session recording for sensitive roles.
